Many mountains and valleys in Saudi Arabia bear witness to timeless tales of love. A similar love story of Jamil bin Umar and Batheena bint Hayyan has been passed down from generation to generation.
According to Arab News, the story of this everlasting Arab love ‘Jamil wa Bathina’ has been put on display in the Blue Hall of Princess Noura bint Abdul Rehman University in Riyadh.
The story of the deserts of the Arabian Peninsula, Jamil and Bathina is a theatrical musical production that tells the legendary story of the poet Jamil bin Muammar, who was madly in love with Bathina bint Hayyan.
Produced by the Ministry of Culture, Al-Ala’s desert duo Jamil and Bathina’s theater amazed the audience with their costumes and dance performances.
The film, based on this story, was originally premiered in February 2020 at the Tantura Festival at the Maraya Concert Hall in Ala.
A group of Lebanese dance theaters have revived the timeless love story with the characters of Jamil and Bathina with the beautiful performances of the show’s main actors Amal Boussouha of Algeria and Samar Ismail of Syria.
