According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Test captain Rohit Sharma has contracted the corona virus before the Test match against England.

The BCCI on Sunday tweeted that “Rohit Sharma’s Corona test was positive in Saturday’s rapid antigen test.”

Rohit Sharma had played a four-day warm-up match against Leicestershire but did not bat in the second innings on Saturday, while he scored 25 in the first innings.

The fifth Test of last year’s series between India and England was rescheduled to begin on Friday at Egbiston in Birmingham. However, it is feared that Rohit Sharma will not be able to participate in this match.

The match was scheduled to be played in Manchester in September last year but was rescheduled due to the spread of the corona virus.

India have a 1-2 lead in the five-match series and the Indian team is hopeful that they can win the series. It should be noted that since 2007, India has been facing a series of failures in the Test series in England.
