Soy milk is a popular dairy milk alternative that’s easy to make at home. Here’s a simple recipe for making your own soy milk:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup dried soybeans
  • 4 cups water, plus more for soaking
  • Sweetener of your choice (optional)
  • Vanilla extract (optional)

Equipment:

  • Blender or food processor
  • Nut milk bag or cheesecloth
  • Large pot

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the soybeans and soak them in water overnight or for at least 6 hours.
  2. Drain the soybeans and rinse them again.
  3. Add the soybeans and 4 cups of water to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
  4. Strain the mixture through a nut milk bag or cheesecloth into a large pot.
  5. Heat the pot over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it comes to a boil.
  6. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes.
  7. Remove the pot from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  8. Strain the mixture again through a nut milk bag or cheesecloth, squeezing out as much liquid as possible.
  9. If desired, add sweetener and vanilla extract to taste.
  10. Pour the soy milk into a container and store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
