

Muhammad Adnan, arrested in connection with the murder of Sri Lankan citizen Priyantha Kumara, who was killed for blasphemy in Sialkot last month, was sentenced by a court to one year imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000.
Accused Adnan had shared a video on social media justifying the murder of Priyantha Kumara, former general manager of Rajko Industries, whose case was registered on December 5, 2021 at the instigation of Sub-Inspector Mubarak Ali.
Accused Mohammad Adnan had justified the murder of a Sri Lankan citizen and advertised it on his YouTube channel, on which a case was registered in Rangpur Sialkot police station.
Accused Mohammad Adnan pleaded guilty in the court on which the court sentenced convict Mohammad Adnan to one year imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 10,000.
Background of the incident
On December 3, 2021, Priyantha Kumara, a Sri Lankan manager at a private factory in Sialkot, was beaten to death by an angry mob for blasphemy and her body was set on fire.
Factory workers accused Priyantha of desecrating religious posters.
After the incident, Priyantha Kumara’s wife Niroshi Dasanyake had appealed to the leaders of both Pakistan and Sri Lanka for justice for her slain husband.
After the incident, Prime Minister Imran Khan said in a statement on the social networking site Twitter that “I am monitoring the investigation and no effort will be spared to bring all those responsible to justice.” ‘
Reacting to the incident, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa had expressed hope that Prime Minister Imran Khan would fulfill his promise and bring the accused to justice.
About 100 people involved in the incident were arrested and a case is being registered against them.
