Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Shehbaz Sharif has been elected as the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan.
National Assembly (NA) Speaker Ayaz Sadiq announced that Shehbaz Sharif secured 174 votes to become the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan.
NA session was underway to select the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan after ousting former Prime Minister Imran Khan through a no-confidence vote in the wee hours of Sunday.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi were competing for the top slot. Later Shah Mahmood Qureshi resigned, leaving the slot open for Shehbaz Sharif.
