Seven suspects involved in the murder of two sisters from Spain, Anisa Abbas, 24, and Urooj Abbas, 21, have been arrested in Gujrat district of Punjab province of Pakistan.
Gujarat Police spokesperson said, “Police have arrested all the accused, including the mastermind of the murder, within 48 hours and the accused have also confessed to their crime.”
According to police, the arrested accused include the main accused Shehryar, the girls’ uncle Hanif. Other accused Qasid, Atiq, Hassan and Asfandyar have also been arrested.
The two sisters came to Pakistan from Spain on May 19 and were killed on May 20. The two sisters were married a year ago but refused to leave and did not agree to take their husbands to Spain.
The incident took place in Nothiha village of Galyana police station.
In this regard, DPO Gujarat Ata-ur-Rehman said that the two sisters lived with their family in Spain. She arrived in Pakistan from Spain two days ago.
“In our investigation, it seems that he was called to Pakistan by deception.”
He said that after the murder of the two sisters, no plaintiff was available in the house, therefore a case has been registered in the police complaint.
This is because it is a murder in the name of honor and usually if the family is the plaintiff in it, they get consent. So now that the state is the plaintiff, there is no possibility of consent.
According to DPO Gujarat, the murder of the slain girls took place at their uncle’s house. Seven named suspects have been arrested and further investigations are underway.
Earlier, police said he had been beaten to death on Friday.
According to a Gujarat police spokesperson, the family had fabricated a story to call him from Spain to Gujarat for a few days. Preliminary investigations suggest he was killed in the name of honor.
The two women were married to their cousins and were being pressured by their husbands to immigrate to Spain.
