PSL 7: Qalandars beat United after a thrilling contest

On this occasion, Harry Brook and David Wise took the team and formed a good partnership to take the score to 149 runs.


In the 12th match of PSL played at National Stadium Karachi, Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan won the toss and elected to field first.

The Lahore Qalandars openers got off to a great start once again, scoring 83 runs in 7 overs.

Abdullah Shafiq was the first batsman to get out on the second ball of the 8th over, playing an innings of 44 off 24 balls with the help of 6 fours and a six.

The second batsman to be dismissed by Qalandars was Kamran Ghulam who scored just 2 runs and was caught by Monroe off Mubashir Khan off 86 balls.

Fakhr Zaman, who has scored a century this season, faced 27 balls and scored 38 runs for a total of 93 runs, which was the third wicket of the Qalandars.

When Mohammad Hafeez was dismissed for 5 runs, the score of Qalandars had reached 97 runs and 4 important wickets of Qalandars had fallen.

After a good start, before the completion of 100 runs, 5 batsmen of Qalandars got out and Phil Salt scored 2 runs and improved the pavilion to a score of 98.

Visa scored 20 runs and was caught by wicketkeeper Azam Khan off Waqas Maqsood.

Harry Brook was the seventh batsman to be dismissed on the first ball of the last over after playing an innings of 37 off 26 balls with the help of 5 fours.

Rashid Khan scored 15 runs without getting out from the other end.

Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi was dismissed for 4 runs.

Haris Rauf became Waqas Maqsood’s last wicket at zero.

Lahore Qalandars scored 174 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

For Islamabad United, captain Shadab Khan and Waqas Maqsood took 4.4 wickets each.

When United started chasing the target, the first wicket fell at 16, when Alex Hales was dismissed for 11 by Shaheen Shah Afridi off Fakhr Zaman.

Paul Sterling also failed to play big innings and made 14 off 10 balls with the help of 2 fours and a six and left the team with a score of 37.

Colin Monroe and Shadab Khan shared the third wicket to strengthen the team’s position and Monroe also completed his half century.

Shadab Khan scored 52 off 32 balls with the help of 2 fours and 4 sixes. After consolidating the position of the team, he got out in the 16th over.

Colin Monroe played an innings of 60 runs and when he was dismissed by Harris Rauf, United’s score was 140 in the 17th over.

Zaman Khan of Qalandars did not give a chance to Asif Ali and Azam Khan to play openly in the last over and restricted United to 166 runs by taking one wicket for only 3 runs.

Islamabad United scored 166 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated overs and lost the match by 8 runs.

Zaman Khan of Qalandars turned the tide of the match in the last over and got the wicket of an aggressive batsman like Asif Ali by giving 3 runs.

Zaman Khan was declared the best player of the match.
