PSL 7: Defensive champions Sultans make a successful start, defeating Kings

In the opening match of the event played at National Stadium Karachi, Muhammad Rizwan won the toss and invited Karachi Kings to bat first.

Both the players batted well and gave the team a 66-run lead. Sharjeel Khan adopted the traditional offensive style but captain Babar continued to struggle.

The Sultans got their first victory when Sharjeel Khan became the wicket of Imran Tahir after playing an innings of 43 runs off 31 balls with 3 sixes and 3 fours.

The Kings had not yet recovered from the loss when Babar’s innings came to an end in an attempt to hit a six to Khushdal Shah, who scored 23 off 29 balls.

After the dismissal of Sharjeel Khan, no batsman was able to bat fast and the batsmen of Karachi Kings faced constant struggle in scoring runs.

Mohammad Nabi and Clarke added 32 runs for the third wicket but Imran Tahir bowled out Mohammad Nabi for 103.

Imran Tahir gave another victory to Multan Sultans in the 17th over when the wickets of newcomer Tom Lemonby were blown away after adding just one run.

Clarke tried to lead the team to a good score but his effort came to an end on the fifth ball of the 18th over and he became the wicket of Shahnawaz Dhani by scoring 26 runs.

Karachi Kings scored 124 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated overs.

Imran Tahir bowled brilliantly and took three wickets for 16 runs.

Sultans openers Mohammad Rizwan and Shaun Masood adopted a defensive style in the first two overs, after which they batted aggressively and gave the team a good start.

Both the players gave the team a start of 38 runs but on the same score Shaun Masood gave the wicket on the ball of Elias.

After that, Sohaib Maqsood came to support Rizwan and both of them formed a partnership of 61 runs and continued to advance successfully towards the target.

Sohaib Maqsood was stumped against Mohammad Nabi after scoring 30 off 31 balls and in the same over Nabi also moved Riley Russo.

However, captain Rizwan, who was at the other end, continued his excellent batting and scored a half-century while maintaining excellent form.

Tim David hit a six to Mohammad Nabi to lead his team to victory 10 balls earlier, Mohammad Rizwan played a brilliant innings of 52 runs.

After winning the match by 7 wickets, Multan Sultans started the event successfully and also got two valuable points.

Imran Tahir was declared the best player of the match for his superb bowling.

Earlier, the tournament kicked off with a colorful opening ceremony.

Pakistan Super League 2022 matches will be played in two phases, the first phase will be held in Karachi and the second in Lahore.

In order to stop the spread of Corona virus in the league, it has been decided to hold matches in Karachi with only 25% of the spectators and under this only 8000 spectators will be allowed to enter the stadium.

The 6-team tournament will feature 34 matches and will be completed in 32 days.
