Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry confirmed the plan in a tweet.
The government believes it will receive billions of dollars in foreign investment by giving Pakistani investors Pakistani citizenship and property rights.
Fawad Chaudhry, in view of Pakistan’s new national security policy, termed geo-economics as the basis of his vision of national security.
He said that the government has decided to allow permanent housing scheme for foreign nationals, adding that the new policy allows foreigners to get permanent resident status in return for investment.
Sources familiar with the development told Dawn that the government wants to attract huge investments from wealthy Afghans who are currently investing in countries such as Iran, Turkey and Malaysia.
He said the government also hopes that Sikh citizens living in the United States will be happy to invest in various sectors in Pakistan because of their love for Sikh religious sites in the country.
In addition, Prime Minister Imran Khan in his recent statements indicated that he wants to attract top Chinese investors who have relocated their industries to other countries in the region.
The government also expressed hope that the rich Arab rulers, who come to Pakistan every year for hunting, would like to acquire Pakistani citizenship.21
