Ukrainian officials say Russian forces fired missiles at a residential building and a resort in Ukraine on Friday, killing 17 people.
Both attacks took place in the Odessa area, AFP news agency quoted emergency services officials as saying.
The attack on the building killed 13 people and injured 30, while seven people were rescued from the rubble, including three children.
The attack on the entertainment center killed three people, including a child, and injured another.
Odessa’s military spokesman Sergei Breitchik said the missiles were fired from a warship.
A few days ago, the Russian military also launched a missile attack on a shopping center in Kremenchok, killing at least 18 civilians.
However, Russian President Vladimir Putin has denied any involvement in the attacks.
The region of Odessa in the southern part of Ukraine is considered to be strategically important. It is also home to Ukraine’s historic port, Odessa Port.
On Thursday, Russian troops evacuated their positions on Snack Island. The area is located off the coast of Odessa, a symbol of Ukrainian resistance in the early days of the war.
Russia is believed to have invaded neighboring Ukraine on February 24 and has been fighting since. Currently, the United States and the Western world are supporting Ukraine, while Ukraine has been given the status of a candidate to join the European Union.
Russian attacks have intensified since last week, and President Putin says the war will continue until the Ukrainian army surrenders.
