Former Vice President Mike Pence dropped out of the 2024 Republican presidential race on Saturday, October 28, 2023. He made the announcement at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual gathering in Las Vegas.

Pence said that he had concluded that “this is not my time” and that he was suspending his campaign “effective today.” He said that he had made the decision after “much prayer and deliberation.”

Pence had been struggling to gain traction in the Republican presidential race, which is still dominated by former President Donald Trump. Pence had tried to position himself as the more experienced and moderate alternative to Trump, but he was unable to win over a significant number of Republican voters.

Pence’s decision to drop out of the race is a blow to his political future. It is also a sign of the continued strength of Trump’s grip on the Republican Party.
