The Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza is one of the most densely populated places on Earth. It is also one of the most dangerous. On Monday, the camp was subjected to a day of heavy bombing by Israeli forces. The strikes killed at least 12 people, including a 5-year-old girl, and injured dozens more.
The bombing was part of a wider Israeli offensive against the Gaza Strip, which has been ongoing since last week. The offensive has killed at least 200 people, including many civilians.
The residents of Jabalia are now living in fear. “We will never be safe,” said one resident. “We are always afraid that the next bomb will fall on our heads.”
Another resident said that she had lost her home in the bombing. “I have nothing left,” she said. “I don’t know where I am going to go.”
The humanitarian situation in Jabalia is worsening. The camp is facing shortages of food, water, and electricity. The United Nations has warned that the situation is “critical” and has called for an immediate ceasefire.
