In Austria, 31 women were killed by men last year, and the case has come to light after a series of tragic incidents.
“This is a really dramatic situation,” Maria Roislmer, executive director of the Women’s Shelter Network, told the media. It’s incomprehensible. “
According to a government study, the number of such incidents has changed over time. However, between 2010 and 2020, 319 women were killed in Austria. Most of them were killed by their comrades or former comrades.
In 2019, there were 43 murders and this was a record number of cases.
According to the European Commission’s Eurostat data, in 2018 Austria was one of the three EU member states with the highest number of female homicides and the killer was a family member or relative.
However, social activist Anna Badoffer says there has been little protest against the killings of women and that her group has erected a memorial in a market in the country’s capital, Vienna, expressing outrage.
He talked about killing a woman with a baseball bat in November. It was a shocking case that came to light in March last year.
A 35-year-old woman named Nadine was beaten by her 47-year-old ex-boyfriend at a tobacco store in Vienna and strangled with a wire.
The man then sprayed gasoline on them, set them on fire and closed the store door.
Nadine was rescued but died a month later from her injuries.
It should be noted that this year the coalition government of Austria has allocated 28 million for the solution of this problem.
