

PML-N leader and Punjab Chief Minister-elect Hamza Shahbaz has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court seeking implementation of the court order regarding his swearing in.
The petition filed through Advocate Khalid Ishaq on Monday named Secretary to the President of Pakistan, Federation, Prime Minister and Punjab Government as parties.
The petition contends that “the petitioner has no other option but to exercise the constitutional jurisdiction of this esteemed court.”
According to the petition, “the President of Pakistan is delaying in accepting the order of this court without any reason.”


It may be recalled that the Lahore High Court had directed the President of Pakistan to appoint a representative for the oath.
Hamza Shahbaz was elected Chief Minister on April 16, but he has not yet been sworn in.
Yesterday, Punjab Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema had written a detailed letter to the President in which he explained the reasons for not taking oath of newly elected Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz.
In the six-page letter, he wrote to President Arif Ali that the constitutional crisis in the province has been going on since the time Chief Minister Usman Bazdar resigned from his post.
He wrote that he thinks his position is constitutional and requires great care.
“As governor, I am refraining from taking oath as the new chief minister for constitutional reasons.”
Punjab Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema further wrote that the matter has been assigned to you under paragraph four of the decision of the petition filed in the Lahore High Court but in a way it has been ordered that you should record the reasons for not taking my oath. ۔ I don’t think that’s the right thing to do. “

In the letter, the governor wrote a paragraph after writing the constitutional provisions and rules regarding the election of the Chief Minister. Available footage can be used.
“The manner in which the High Court in its judgment ordered the holding of elections has not been carried out,” he wrote. That’s why I can’t complete the process with my eyes closed. “
According to Governor Omar Cheema, the report of the Secretary Assembly is a testament to how the election of the Chief Minister was conducted in an unconstitutional manner.
“I cannot be part of this unconstitutional process, so I am grateful for your intervention. On the one hand, guide the legal status of Usman Bazdar’s resignation and on the other hand, what action should be taken to get out of the situation facing the election of a new Chief Minister in the Punjab Assembly.
