The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson has announced his resignation at a press conference.

On Thursday, Boris Johnson also announced his resignation from the party leadership, saying “I will continue my duties until the new party leader arrives.”

Earlier, British media claimed that Prime Minister Boris Johnson had been persuaded by members of his cabinet to step down.

If the British Prime Minister had lost the vote of confidence, he would have had to step down as Prime Minister and party leader.

Before the vote, Boris Johnson wrote to members of the Conservative Party in his defense about administrative matters, the Bridget case, dealing with the Corona virus epidemic and supporting Ukraine.

“As a united party, today we have the opportunity to put an end to weeks of media speculation and move the country forward,” the British prime minister wrote.

Conservative Party official Graham Brady announced Monday that he had received letters of no-confidence from at least 54 lawmakers.

The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that the Prime Minister had welcomed the vote, saying “this is an opportunity to put an end to months of speculation.”
