Donations of 2.1 million have been raised to save a sick one-and-a-half-year-old girl in Egypt.

According to Al-Arabiya, a girl named Raqiyah needs an injection which is considered to be the most expensive medicine in the world.

Suleiman’s youngest daughter, Ruqayyah, a resident of the Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria, was diagnosed with atrophic type 2 at the age of just one.

The disease can affect children between the ages of six months and 18 months and must be treated before the age of two, otherwise the disease can become incurable and leave the child disabled for life.
According to Raqiyah’s father, Suleiman, his daughter contracted the disease at the age of one. It was no less shocking for them to hear about the disease and the cost of its treatment.

“But with God’s help, the people of Alexandria have raised 2.1 million in a very short period of time through a public campaign, considering this young girl as their daughter.”

According to Raqiyah’s parents, “Now it is possible to treat their young daughter and hopefully she will be able to avoid lifelong disability.”

Raqiyah is currently one year and eleven months old and according to doctors, she has one month left to use this medicine.

Suleiman, Raqia’s father, says the public fundraising for the treatment was started by university students.

“These students had collected money from their own pockets for a beautiful ceremony on the occasion of completion of their degree, but after hearing about raising funds for the treatment of this innocent girl, they gave all the money collected in her name.” It just so happened that the whole city was impressed by this benevolent spirit of the students.

Appeals for funds for a little girl named Raqiyah became common in various parts of the city and funds began to be collected. The girl’s parents and fundraisers faced two challenges.

One is that the medicine for Raqiyah’s disease was the most expensive medicine in the world. The second challenge was to raise about ً 2 million in just a few months.

After the students, businessmen, personalities associated with the showbiz industry also competed with each other in this work of goodness as to who would give more.

The men and women of Alexandria also became part of this mission.

As a result, success was doomed, and in just a few months, the people of Alexandria raised 40 million Egyptian pounds, equivalent to 2.1 million US dollars.

The medicine for Raqiyah’s disease is manufactured in Switzerland and is the most expensive medicine in the world.
