In the eighth match of the event played at National Stadium Karachi, Islamabad United won the toss and invited Multan Sultans to bat first.
When the Sultans started the innings, they had difficulty in scoring fast runs due to the bowling of the United bowlers.
The score had reached 30 when Mohammad Rizwan was unfortunately run out and returned to the pavilion. Shaun Masood played a back shot on the ball of Mohammad Wasim Jr. and the ball hit the wickets after hitting the bowler’s hand. Rizwan was out of the crease. Due to which the pavilion was forced to return.
Shaun Masood also appeared in form today and played an innings of 43 runs with the help of 2 sixes and 5 fours but Merchant de Lange’s fast ball hit his pad and he was declared LBW.
The Sultans had not yet recovered from the loss as they suffered a third run as a result of another run out.
Rousseau played a shot towards the boundary and Asif Ali threw the ball towards the wicket keeper after blocking a sure four with excellent fielding and Sohaib Maqsood lost his wicket as a result of misunderstanding between the wickets.
After losing three wickets, Riley Rousseau was joined by Tim David and they both batted well and aggressively and laid the foundation for a big total.
Both the players scored half-centuries and put up a partnership of 110 runs. Tim David was dismissed for 71 off 29 balls with the help of 6 sixes and 6 fours.
However, Riley Russo continued the baton charge and played an unbeaten innings of 67 off 35 balls with the help of 6 sixes and 4 fours.
Multan Sultans scored 217 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated overs.
The Sultans’ aggressive batting can be gauged from the fact that they scored 98 off the last 31 balls.
In pursuit of the target, United openers Paul Sterling and Alex Hales took an aggressive approach but after scoring 19 off 10 balls, they gave the wicket to David Willie.
Alex Hales also played some big shots and along with Rehmanullah Garbaz increased the score to 57 but on the same score Wali took the second wicket and made the compatriot Hales who scored 23 runs move.
Rehmanullah Garbaz from Afghanistan fell victim to Khushdal Shah after scoring 15 runs while Faheem Ashraf also walked on Golden Dick in the same over.
Azam Khan was caught on the boundary in an attempt to hit a six while Khushdal got the fourth wicket by dismissing Asif Ali.
From the other end, Shadab Khan continued his excellent batting and continued to increase the score rapidly and together with Mubashir brought the score to 176. Mubashir 15 and Hassan Ali were out for three runs.
Shadab’s lone innings also came to an end in the 19th over, he scored 91 off 42 balls with the help of 9 sixes and 5 fours.
David Wiley bowled Muhammad Wasim Jr. to take the third wicket and also gave his team a victory by 20 runs.
For Sultans, Khushdal Shah took four wickets and David Willie three.
With the victory in this match, Multan Sultans got their fourth consecutive victory.
Tim David was named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
It may be recalled that no change was made in the team of Islamabad United for the match but Multan Sultans made two changes in the team.
The Sultans replaced Shahnawaz Dhani and Israrullah with Roman Raees and Anwar Ali.
Both teams were composed of these players for the match.
