

Chetan Kumar Ahimsa, a Kannada-language film actor, has been arrested for tweeting about a judge hearing a case against the hijab ban in the Indian state of Karnataka.
According to Indian channel NDTV, actor Chetan Kumar Ahimsa, who has acted in several major Kannada language films, has been arrested by Bangalore police.
Confirming the arrest, Bangalore Deputy Commissioner of Police MN Anucheth said that the case against Chetan Kumar Ahamsa was registered on the basis of one of his tweets.

Earlier this month, a series of protests erupted in the Indian state of Karnataka in response to a ban on female students wearing the hijab in schools, prompting the government to close educational institutions.
Several female students had approached the Karnataka High Court in this regard. This case is still pending.
In this regard, two days ago, the Home Minister of India had said that he was in favor of students wearing uniforms instead of religious uniforms in school.
According to Reuters, Indian Home Minister Amit Shah said that his stance on wearing hijab may change after the court decision.
In another interview to Indian media group Network 18, the minister had said that he would accept the court’s decision on the issue of hijab.
“It is my personal opinion that people of all faiths should accept the school code of conduct.”
