According to the Sindh Health Department, 2,289 cases of the epidemic were reported in the province during the last 24 hours, out of which 2,081 cases were from Karachi.
Two more people lost their lives due to Corona epidemic in Sindh.
The statement said that the condition of 172 patients in Sindh is critical while 14 patients are undergoing treatment on ventilator.
Health experts say that 95% of the reported cases are of Omicron variant. Citizens are urged to get vaccinated immediately and apply booster dose.
Lahore ranks second in the list of cities with the highest rate of 9.6%, followed by Islamabad at 5.5%.
During the last 24 hours, 3,576 cases were reported across the country, after which the rate of positive cases reached 7.36%.
The total number of patients affected by the epidemic has reached 1.315 million.
The death toll from Corona has risen to 28,999 nationwide after the deaths of seven more people infected with Corona.

Sindh: 2 thousand 321 cases, 2 deaths
Punjab: 843 cases, one death
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 90 cases, 4 deaths
Balochistan: 7 cases
Islamabad: 299 cases
Azad Kashmir: 7 cases, one death
Gilgit-Baltistan: 4 cases
Complete vaccination of 50% of the population
Dr Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Health, said in a tweet that 50 per cent of the population over the age of 12 across the country has been fully vaccinated.
Dr. Faisal Sultan wrote that in view of the rapid increase in corona cases across the country, we should take care of the ban on masks everywhere, especially in indoor places.
Three days ago, Pakistan crossed an important milestone in the vaccination campaign by vaccinating 100 million people with at least one dose of the vaccine.
Karachi still lags behind in urban vaccination rates, with more than 40% of the city’s population still not getting the first dose of the vaccine.
Sindh Health Minister also expressed concern that an unusual number of people have not yet received the first dose of the vaccine.
The meeting decided to take various measures to make the vaccination campaign effective and action was announced against marriage halls, shopping malls and factories violating SOPs.
It was also decided at the meeting that a plan would be drawn up for vaccination of citizens and especially housewives by going door to door, for which the services of lady health workers would be sought.
In the first phase, the center of the campaign will be Karachi, Sukkur and Larkana. In the second phase, vaccination campaign will be run again in Hyderabad and Shaheed Benazirabad including Karachi.
Dr Javed Akram, a member of the Scientific Task Force, said the rise in cases across the country was not unexpected as people were suffering from “epidemic disease fatigue” and provided every opportunity for the virus to be transmitted and transmitted.
He urged the people to get vaccinated as soon as possible as the ‘Deltacron’ variant, which includes both Delta and Omicron features of the corona virus, has been reported in Cyprus and will soon reach Pakistan.
