The Home Minister of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh has ordered an inquiry into a controversial statement made by actress Shweta Tiwari and has sought a report from the Bhopal Police Commissioner within the next 24 hours.
According to Indian channel NDTV, Shweta had released a controversial statement at the event regarding one of her web series, which officials said had hurt the feelings of Hindus.
According to Indian media, a video of the actress’ statement has also gone viral on social media. A case has also been registered against him in a Bhopal police station under Section 295A of the Indian Penal Code.
“I have heard his statement and I condemn it,” Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narutam Mishra said in a statement.
“I have directed the Bhopal police commissioner to investigate and report back within 24 hours,” he said. We will then see what action can be taken. “
Social media users say that Shweta should not have made such a statement during a public function.
