Chinese President Visits Russia

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrives in Moscow today on his first official visit to Russia since the start of the Ukraine war in February last year.

President Xi Jinping described the visit to Russia as a “journey of friendship, peace and cooperation” and praised the strength of the alliance between the two countries.

However, Western countries believe that China is providing diplomatic protection to Russia in the context of the Ukraine war with its conciliatory attitude.

On Friday, the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Office said in a tweet that President Xi Jinping will visit Russia from March 20 to 22 at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin.

Before arriving in Russia, an article written by President Xi Jinping has been published in a Russian newspaper, in which he said that he hopes to adopt a new vision together with President Putin regarding the relationship between the two countries. .’

During the Ukraine war, China has been trying to portray itself as a neutral side. In this regard, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said last week that Beijing will play a constructive role in promoting peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.

President Xi Jinping’s visit to Russia will give a boost to the globally isolated President Vladimir Putin, especially after the International Criminal Court recently issued an arrest warrant for the Russian president.

President Xi Jinping, who was elected for the third time, ignored the concerns of Western countries and described President Putin as an ‘old friend’. The alliance between the two countries is seen as a strong defense against the West.

In the case of Russia, China criticized the United States and said that instead of playing the role of “neutral mediator” to resolve the conflict, a pressure campaign is being conducted on Russia under the leadership of the United States.

In late February, China presented a twelve-point plan to end the war in Ukraine and establish peace.

In the 12-point peace plan, China proposed a political solution to the Ukraine conflict, urging both sides to gradually reduce tensions leading to a comprehensive ceasefire.

While the plan calls for ensuring the safety of citizens and respecting the sovereignty of all countries, China has refrained from condemning Russia’s actions.
