Pakistan has won its first gold medal in weightlifting in the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
On Wednesday, Pakistani weightlifter Mohammad Noah Dastgir Butt lifted a total of 405 kg in the 109+ kg category, a Commonwealth Games record.
David Andrew Latty of New Zealand was second and Gurpreet Singh of India was third.
Noah Dastgir Butt lifted a weight of 173 kg in the first stage of the competition Snatch and 232 kg in the second stage of clean and jerk and was declared the winner of the competition.
Noah Dastgir Butt won a bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games held in Gold Coast.
Bronze Medal of Shah Hussain Shah in Judo
Pakistan’s Shah Hussain Shah has won a bronze medal in the Judo event at the Commonwealth Games.
He won this honor by defeating South African player Thomas Leslow Breitenbach.
Shah Hussain Shah has won a medal at the Commonwealth Games for the second time, having previously won a silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Shah Hussain Shah is the son of famous Pakistani boxer Syed Hussain Shah. Syed Hussain Shah was a boxer from Karachi who won a bronze medal in the 1988 Summer Olympics.
This bronze medal was Pakistan’s first medal in a boxing event at the Olympics. Syed Hussain Shah is the only Pakistani athlete to have won an individual medal at the Olympics in the last 50 years.
