The Hundred is a new style of cricket which consists of an innings of 100 balls and has some different rules and regulations from traditional cricket.
The first successful season of The Hundred was held in 2021 and now the second season is about to begin.
The Hundred was launched by the England Cricket Board (ECB) in which teams are named after cities in England.
Eight teams will participate in The Hundred, namely Birmingham Phoenix, London Spirit, Manchester Originals, Northern Superchargers, Oval Unaccountables, Southern Braves, Trent Rockets and Welsh Fire.
This season of cricket league will be played in eight stadiums in England.
According to The Hundred’s website, almost all tickets for the first four matches have been sold out.
The Hundred League will see many big players including Moeen Ali, Imran Tahir, Matthew Wade, Glenn Maxwell, Kieron Pollard, Owen Morgan, Winnidu Hasaringa, Jos Buttler, Andre Russell in action.
What are the rules of The Hundred?
100 balls will be played in one innings of this cricket league, the team that scores more will win.
After every 10 balls the direction (ie end) of the bowler will be changed.
The bowler can bowl 5 or 10 balls in a row as decided by the captain.
A bowler can bowl a maximum of 20 balls.
Each bowling side will be given two minutes to strategize, during which the coach can also come inside the stadium and advise the team.
Each team will be given a 25-ball powerplay during which a maximum of 2 fielders will be allowed outside the 30-yard circle.
The entire match of The Hundred will be of two and a half hours duration.
It should be noted that Southern Brew will defend its title in the second season of The Hundred.
