Hollywood actress Amber Heard is in trouble after a court ordered her ex-husband and famous actor Johnny Depp to pay 13.5 million dollars in damages.
According to showbiz news website Koi Moi, the ‘Aquaman’ heroine has received a lot of negative publicity after losing a defamation case against her ex-husband. But can she avoid paying that huge sum by pleading bankruptcy?
Amber Heard filed a counter-suit against Johnny Depp for 10 million damages which she failed to win, but the court ordered Johnny Depp to pay 13.5 million dollars in damages.
Interestingly, his net worth of $8 million is not enough to pay the damages even if he sells all his assets.
For this reason, his team of lawyers is appealing against the court decision. Earlier, Judge Penny Ezekrate refused to rehear the case, after which the actress filed a formal appeal.
Legally, things are not easy for Amber Heard even if she files for bankruptcy.
They still have to pay the money as per the court order but only one point can be beneficial in their favour.
If the authorities can get a little more time to pay, then Johnny Depp can definitely get the money anyway.
On the other hand, after Amber Heard’s lawyers filed an appeal, Johnny Depp’s lawyers also did not lag behind.
However, it is clear that Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s legal battle is not going to end anytime soon.
