Cricketer Muhammad Rizwan has been named the International Cricket Council’s T20 Player of the Year for 2021.
According to a statement issued by the ICC on Sunday, the wicket-keeper Better showed the best game in 2021. He scored 1326 runs in just 29 matches. Its average was 73.66 while the strike rate was 134.89.
Apart from batting, he also played an important role as a wicket-keeper and his performance in the ICCT20 World Cup was also exemplary. He was the third highest run scorer in the event.
Mohammad Rizwan also scored the first century of his T20 career in the T20 series against South Africa earlier this year, while at the end of the year he played a brilliant 84-run innings against the West Indies in Karachi.
Receiving the award for the best T20 cricketer of the year, Mohammad Rizwan said that it is for Pakistan and that it is a source of pride for the team management to receive this award among the players of the biggest and best teams in the world.
The 152-run target against India in the T20 World Cup was seemingly easy but the bowling attack of Jaspreet Bumrah and Mohammad Shami could have created difficulties for Pakistan. However, Mohammad Rizwan along with captain Babar Azam led the Pakistani team to a memorable victory.
In this match, Mohammad Rizwan faced only 55 balls and played an unbeaten innings of 79 runs which included six fours and three sixes. Pakistan achieved the target of 152 runs without any loss.
