There was a time when it was thought that if film actors got married their popularity would decline so they either did not get married at the height of their careers or kept it a secret.

The famous Bollywood actor of his time Govinda also kept his marriage secret for a year for fear of losing his ‘fan following’.

According to the Indian newspaper Hindustan Times, Govinda and his wife Sunita have been married for 36 years and are considered to be the “happy couple” of the industry.

Govinda had started acting when he fell in love with Sunita, after which his mother also agreed to the marriage.

Govinda revealed in an interview that she had to keep her marriage a secret for a year for fear of losing her loved ones.

In an Indian TV show, Govinda and Sunita shared their love story with their fans in which Govinda said that they kept their marriage a secret till the birth of their daughter Tina.

“People scared me that girls would write me love letters and love me so much (after marriage) that I would lose my image and fan following,” she said.

When the show’s host Sammy Grewal asked if it really made a difference, Govinda replied, “I don’t think so. It was my fault.”

Govinda also said that the two rarely went out together during that one year period.

When asked how he would react if someone asked him about marriage, he said, ‘I would run away, I would go out, I always thought that someone Sent (for questioning) which will ruin my career. ‘

“At that time, my career was like a doll,” Govinda said. I was afraid someone would snatch my doll. “
